![]() This amazing rock formation is about 36km from Narrabri, on the Narrabri-Bingara Rd. It is then just an easy 750m walk from the car park on a sealed path. The cliff which features the organ pipe-shaped basalt rock towers over an frequently dry creek bed into which the polygonal columns (the number of sides vary, but most columns seem to to have five or six) sometimes fall. They were formed by the slow, uniform cooling of a trachyte flow. The result is called columnar jointing. |
